Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Distance swimmer Riley Christensen has verbally committed to compete for Arizona State University in the fall of 2026. Christensen lives in Las Vegas and trains with the Sandpipers of Nevada.
“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at Arizona State University! Thank you to my mom, dad, and sister for always supporting me. I would also like to thank Coach Jake, Coach Michael, the rest of the Sandpipers staff, and all of my coaches along the way. A special thank you to Coach Herbie and Coach Derek for giving me this amazing opportunity!! I’m so excited to be a Sun Devil! FORKS UP!! 😈🔱”
This past March, Christensen posted a lifetime best in the girls’ 500 free at Speedo Sectionals (SCY) in Justin, Texas, placing 3rd with a time of 4:47.38. She also finished 8th in the 200 free (1:55.10), 1650 free (17:03.00), and 400 IM (4:26.10), and 12th in the 1000 free (10:05.19).
Christensen swam at the 2024 CA/NV Speedo Winter Sectionals (SCY) in late December, where she recorded a personal best of 10:03.00 in the 1000 free, finishing 7th. She also placed 2nd in the 1650 free (16:43.92), 3rd in the 500 free (4:53.06), 6th in the 400 IM (4:23.30), 8th in the 200 free (1:51.66), and 13th in the 200 fly (2:04.64). All of these were personal bests, except for the mile and 200 free.
Christensen’s fastest 1650 free time came about a week earlier at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West (SCY), where she placed 11th with a time of 16:41.42.
In November, Christensen competed in several events at the Nevada State Championship (SCY). She placed 2nd in the 200 free (1:49.48) and 400 IM (4:23.31), 3rd in the 200 IM (2:07.42), 4th in the 200 back (2:06.88), and 8th in the 200 breast (2:32.98). All times are altitude-adjusted. Her 200 free and 200 back times remain her lifetime bests.
Christensen was a finalist at the 2025 National Championships (LCM) this summer, finishing 30th in the 400 free with a time of 4:25.00.
Top Yard Times
- 200 Free – 1:50.68 (Altitude Adjusted – 1:49.48)
- 500 Free – 4:47.38
- 1000 Free – 10:03.00
- 1650 Free – 16:41.42
ASU won the 2025 Women’s Big 12 Championships last season. With another year still to improve, Christensen’s 500 free time already would have earned her a spot in the ‘A’ final at last season’s conference meet, while her 1650 free time would have placed in the top 10.
Christensen will join Belis Sakar, Rowynn Biffart, Lilly Jayne Allison, Ellie Chalupsky, Haddie Vohs, Maya Hetland, Wren Smith, and Alyssa Albertyn on campus in 2026. Sakar, also a distance swimmer, holds a converted SCY time of 4:49.09 in the 500 free.
