TYR Sport signs 4-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Vollmer

TYR Sport is proud to announce the signing of 4X Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Vollmer to its roster of sponsored athletes.

Dana Vollmer (courtesy of TYR) 2016At just twelve years old Dana began her quest for Olympic success as the youngest swimmer to compete in the 2000 Olympic trials. In 2004, her dream became a reality when she earned her first Olympic gold medal as a member of the 4x200m free relay in Athens. Making history, she and her teammates swam fast enough to break the seventeenyearold world record. In 2012 she was at it again, this time winning three gold medals and setting two world records at the London Olympic Games. It was here that Dana became the first woman to ever swim the 100m butterfly in under 56 seconds.

Having become a mother less than a year ago, Dana is more motivated than ever to once again leave her mark on the world’s stage. Taking home the gold in the 100m butterfly at winter nationals, this TYR athlete is a “momma on a mission” and Omaha is where she’s headed.

“It’s all about finding the right fit,” began Vollmer. “Learning to be a mom and getting back in the pool have taught me to trust my instincts. The first race I swam in the TYR suit, I knew it was right for me. Then I met the team of TYR athletes and employees and there was no doubt that I was in the right spot. I’m excited to represent TYR on my journey back to the Olympic stage.”

However, the road to success has been far from easy for team TYR’s newest champion. With her fair share of injuries and a late diagnosis of food allergies, she continues to fight for every medal she earns. Priding herself on an ability to maintain a positive outlook, Dana refuses to let any hardship, large or small, deter her from her ultimate goal. In the past, she has worked with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about heart conditions in both women and children, and she has proudly spoken at events regarding food allergy research & education.

“I speak on behalf of the entire TYR family when I say we are incredibly excited to welcome Dana Vollmer to our roster of sponsored athletes. She is an inspiration in and out of the pool, and we cannot wait to see her succeed in 2016.”

I’m just curious about ao much these deals are worth. Maybe for a swimmer like dana 300k a year? Does anyone have an idea of how much does these swimmers make by these sponsors?

It’s interesting that Speedo didn’t pick her up again. Maybe TYR made a better offer. Either way, good for Dana and best of luck!
