36-year old Troy Dumais dove the last dive of his 2016 Olympic Trials on Friday night, and with a 5th Olympic Team out of his reach, that meant it was the last dive of his career before a pending retirement.
Dumais has been the unofficial figurehead of American diving for the last 20 years, including a 2012 Olympic bronze medal on the 3-meter synchro with partner Kristian Ipsen. The significance of the moment was not lost upon the audience in Indianapolis. Dumais broke down into tears and the audience gave him an extended standing ovation before he was able to attempt the dive.

Dumais dove for Team USA at the 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic Games, and adds to his resume 5 World Championship medals and 6 Pan Am Games medals in his specialty on the 3-meter.
