Tigers Open POD Meet At George Mason

Towson Men

The Tiger men’s swimming and diving team began a two-day POD at George Mason on Fridayafternoon, squaring off against the Patriots and the College of Charleston.

Freshman Noah Pritchard and sophomore Zach Brech were two standouts for the Tigers on Friday.  Pritchard swam a lifetime best time of 1:56.98 in the 200-yard individual medley to finish second in the event, while Brech placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.40, catching the eye of Towson Head Coach Pat Mead.

“Our guys swam well,” Mead said. “Noah had an unbelievable swim and he was a standout for us. Brech has been very consistent and has gotten faster. He’s doing exactly what we want.”

Sophomore Matt Hans finished just ahead of Brech in the 50-yard freestyle with a 21.37 result.

Junior Matt Lowe continued his strong season with a victory in the 1,650-yard freestyle, timing 16:00.10.

The meet concludes tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Towson Women

Senior Kaitlin Burke and sophomore Charlotte Holz of the Towson University women’s swimming and diving team had standout efforts on the first day of the POD meet hosted by George Mason Fridayafternoon. Northeastern and College of Charleston also are competing at the meet.

Burke timed 16:44.81 to win the 1,650-yard freestyle while Holz took first-place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.04.

Also winning an event was Amanda Barber, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.56.

“If we continue to swim tomorrow the way we did today, we should be adding a few more wins,” Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said.

Lyndsey Dickson also won the three-meter diving event for the Tigers with a score of 266.10.

The meet concludes tomorrow at 10 a.m.
