If you’re looking to add a burst of flavor to your morning coffee or matcha without relying on store-bought syrups, this homemade blueberry syrup is the perfect upgrade. Made with just frozen blueberries, honey, and water, it’s naturally sweetened and full of antioxidants — a great way to give your drink a refreshing twist while keeping ingredients simple and clean.
The best part? You can easily swap in your favorite berries like raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries for a new flavor every week. It’s quick to make, easy to store, and adds a subtly sweet, fruity layer to any latte, iced coffee, or matcha!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup water
- 3 tablespoons honey (adjust for sweetness)
Possible Add-ins:
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice (to brighten the flavor)
Let’s Cook!
- In a small saucepan, add the frozen blueberries, water, and honey.
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once it starts bubbling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The blueberries should burst and release their juices.
- Use the back of a spoon or a potato masher to gently crush the berries and extract more flavor and juice of the berry.
