Texas Men Remain Atop CSCAA Division I Polls, ASU Leapfrogs Indiana For #2 Spot

The University of Texas men maintain their spot atop the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Division I poll for November after leading the pre-season poll released at the beginning of October.

In October, the Longhorns earned a pair of dominant victories against SEC opponents Alabama (216-82) and Tennessee (120-65), while superstar Hubert Kos hasn’t even suited up for the squad yet this season due to his presence at the World Cup.

Kos, the defending NCAA champion in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM, set new world records in the 100 back (48.16) and 200 back (1:45.12) in short course meters late last month in Toronto, indicating that he’s on top form as the team heads into the Texas Hall of Fame Invite next week.

Even without Kos, the Longhorns have four swimmers holding top-three times in the NCAA so far this season, and all of them have multiple.

Texas Men Ranked Top-Three In NCAA

Texas also ranks 2nd this season in the 200 medley and 400 medley relays, and 3rd in the 200 free relay.

Moving into the #2 spot in the poll is Arizona State, which leapfrogs Indiana after the Hoosiers were in the runner-up position in the pre-season ranks.

The Sun Devils went on a tear in October and into early November, dominating UNLV (236-60), sweeping the All-Arizona quad meet, running away from Cal (198-139) and Stanford (204-124) in a double dual, and most recently, handily topping USC (193-107).

Arizona State currently has Ilya Kharun ranked 1st in the country in the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 fly, and 2nd in the 100 free, while Adam Chaney sits 1st in the 100 back and 2nd in the 200 back, and Remi Fabiani ranks 3rd in the 100 free.

Even more impressively, ASU has the fastest time in the country in the 200 free, 400 free, 800 free, and 200 medley relays this season.

The biggest mover in the top 10 was Louisville, which jumped up to 5th after being ranked 12th prior to the season. The Cardinals recently beat Tennessee and Auburn on Oct. 30, and then took down Kentucky and Notre Dame in back-to-back days last week.

This is something Coley Stickles would’ve fixed if he was still at Indiana

Hell, I guess a winning record doesn’t mean much in these rankings

In what world are the Louisville men a top 5 team? They have Sheremet, Bried, and Eccleston. None of them except Eccleston (12pts) were big scorers at NCAA’s.

This poll is based on dual meet results/potential. Sometimes teams have dramatically better dual meet teams than they do championship teams.

They beat Tennessee, Auburn, Kentucky, and Notre Dame already this season. That’s a pretty impressive hitlist.

an impressive list in name only. Not swimming this year. Maybe basketball and football

Are you sure you are a SwimFan? If you were, I’m not sure you’d be so flip about some folks on the Louisville roster.

Sheremet was #18 in the world last summer in winning the Junior World Championship in the 50 LCM Freestyle.

Of the 17 with times exceeding his, only #7 (Gui Caribe, Tenn) and #17 (Jonny Kulow, ASU) are in NCAA competition. If he catches on to SCY competition it sounds like Nikita, as good sprint freestylers who make relays more valuable, will be HUGE for the Cardinals.

And you didn’t even mention a fellow who stands 2nd in the current 200 Free rankings, Guy Brooks. Brooks was 19th in the 200 Free at the ’25 NCAA, but… Read more »
