TCU Gets Verbal From Backstroker Jessica Short

Jessica Short, a senior out of Ozaukee Aquatics in Mequon, Wisconsin, has verbally committed to swim for Texas Christian University, for the 2015-2016 season.

Short is primarily a backstroker, but can swim freestyle (sprint and mid-distance) and I.M. as well. As a junior, she placed 146th in the 100 Back and 179th in the 50 Free at the 2013 Winter Junior Nationals.

Short’s Best Times

(SCY/LCM)

50 Free: 24.22/27.25

100 Free: 52.23/59.07

200 Free: 1:54.76/2:09.82

100 Back: 56.68/1:04.82

200 Back: 2:00.53/2:21.25

200 I.M.: 2:06.00/2:24.37

400 I.M.: 4:33.48/5:17.11

Smith was a bit off of her form in her junior season. Most of Short’s best times were achieved between her freshman and sophomore season, but she has come close to those times in her junior season. Her 100 (Consolation) and 200 Back (Final) will be an immediate contribution to the Horned Frogs, scoring at the Big 12 Championships. She may have an opportunity to lead-off the 200 and 400 Medley Relay, as well as contribute to the 200, 400, and 800 Freestyle Relay for TCU. She has one more year to gain back her form before helping the Horned Frogs improve their team placing at the Big 12 Championships.
