Cochrane and Ware headline Aquatics Canada award winners

Swimmer Ryan Cochrane of Victoria, B.C., and diver Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., have been named Aquatics Canada’s male and female athletes of the year for 2013. The honours are part of Aquatics Canada’s annual awards, which recognize the outstanding performances and contributions to the sport of diving, swimming, synchronized swimming and water polo.

Cochrane named OMEGA Male Swimmer of the Year

Hilary Caldwell still finds it hard to believe she touched the wall third in the women’s 200-metre backstroke final at the FINA World Championships this past summer. But the bronze medal was her reward for the countless early morning rises and thousands of kilometres she’s swum since was a youngster.

Swimming Canada Restructures High Performance Centres

After a period of review Swimming Canada has decided to reduce the number of high performance centres that are being funded largely by the national organization and redirect their funding to four high performances centres rather than five.
