Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Blazing Barracudas’ Sofia Jimenez has committed to Florida State University, joining the Seminole women’s 2026 recruiting class.

I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida State University. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and the friends I have made throughout the journey for all the support they have shown. I would also like to thank the coaches at FSU for this amazing opportunity! GO NOLES🍢❤️!

In December, Jimenez competed at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Indianapolis. At those championships, she reached the finals in the 100 butterfly, finishing 19th overall, and swam a new lifetime best of 53.90. She notched her best time in the event in the prelims, swimming 54.36. Jimenez also competed in the 100 breast, finishing 77th (1:05.20), and the 200 IM, where she ended up 44th (2:03.30).

Jimenez hails from Shaker Heights, Ohio, where she represents Hathaway Brown School. As a high school junior, Jimenez helped lead a pair of Hathaway Brown relays to OHSAA Division II State Championship titles; she split 23.14 on the anchor leg of the 200 free relay and 24.33 on the fly leg in the 200 medley relay to lead her team’s to state titles. She additionally finished 2nd overall in the 200 IM, clocking her fastest ever time of 2:01.74. In the 100 fly, Jimenez wound up finishing 4th in 55.28.

In December of 2023, Jimenez set a pair of major lifetime best times that still stand today; she notched both her 100 breast (1:03.71) and 200 breast (2:14.82) best times. A year later at the same meet, she clocked her fastest ever 400 IM in 4:25.26.

Jimenez was named a 2024-2025 NISCA All-American for her performances in the 100 fly and 200 IM.

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 Breast: 1:03.71
  • 200 Breast: 2:14.82
  • 200 IM: 2:01.74
  • 400 IM: 4:25.26
  • 100 Fly: 53.90
  • 200 Fly: 2:04.07
  • 200 Free: 1:53.42

The Seminole women finished 7th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships last season.

Based on Jimenez’s best times, she would have placed 29th in both the 100 breast and 200 breast, and 44th in the 200 IM.

Jimenez is just a few spots outside of scoring position in both breaststroke races, but she has not swum a best time in those events since 2023. If Jimenez is able to get down into scoring range prior to her debut in Tallahassee, she could set herself up to become a future contender in the conference.

2:13.76 scored at ACCs last season, which is a bit more than a second off of her best time. If Jimenez decides to switch to focus more on butterfly events, that could be a potential move. She is just about equally as far from scoring in the 100 fly as she is in the 200 breast.

Comparing Jimenez’s times to the current Seminole roster, she would rank as the fastest 200 IMer, 2nd in the 200 breast, 4th in the 400 IM, and 6th in the 100 breast. The potential lineups that Jimenez can swim will be advantageous for Florida State.

Jimenez joins Emma Thomas, Lucy Porter, and Samantha Villacis in Florida State’s 2026 recruiting class.
