Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sebastian Suwanda, who competed at the 2025 Justin Sectionals, has announced his commitment to swim for John Carroll University in Ohio beginning in the fall of 2026.

“After much thought and discernment, I am beyond blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at John Carroll University! First and foremost, thank you to God for guiding me along this path. Thank you also Mom, Dad, Mariska, and GiGi for your unwavering love and support throughout this journey. I’m also thankful to my teammates for pushing me to be my best every day. A heartfelt thank you to Coach Mook, Coach Doug, Coach Paul, Coach Meagher, and all my other coaches for mentoring me along the way. And finally, a special thank you to Coach Mark, Coach Maddie, and Coach Jonathan for giving me the opportunity to spend the next chapter of my life in Cleveland. AMDG & Go Blue Streaks!”

The Texas native is a senior at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and has been a member of the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also currently trains year-round with the Dallas Mustangs Swim Team, where he primarily specializes in free and IM, as well as some fly.

Last season, Suwanda turned in a series of top performances at the 2024 NT COR Classic. He placed 8th in the 500 free (4:46.45), 13th in the 400 IM (4:16.62), 16th in the 200 free (1:44.38 – PB), 20th in the 100 free (48.69), 21st in the 200 IM (2:00.03) and 22nd in the 200 fly (2:01.42 – PB). He also helped his team to a 5th-place finish in the 200 medley relay and a 10th-place finish in the 200 free relay, which he led off in 22.64.

Suwanda qualified for the 2025 Justin Sectionals in March, where he raced two individual events and three relays. He contested the 100 free (49.01) and 500 free (4:48.45) and represented his team on the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay.

At the 2025 WT COR Classic in December, Suwanda logged a series of season-best and personal best times. He placed 12th in the 400 IM (4:15.29 – SB), 18th in the 200 fly (2:00.61 – PB), 21st in both the 200 free (1:45.94 – SB) and 500 free (4:51.37 – SB) and 29th in the 100 free (49.00 – SB). He also contested the 50 free (22.63) and helped his team to a 6th-place finish in the 200 free relay.

Best Times SCY

  • 100 free – 48.23
  • 200 free – 1:44.38
  • 500 free – 4:45.85
  • 200 IM – 1:59.55
  • 400 IM – 4:14.56

A Division III program, John Carroll competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference against the likes of Denison, Kenyon and DePauw. The 2025-2026 season marks JCU’s first year in the NCAC, as the Blue Streaks were previously a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference, with the JCU men winning their ninth consecutive conference championship title last season.

Based on the results from the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, Suwanda would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 free, ‘B’ final in the 100 free, 500 free and 400 IM and the ‘C’ final in the 200 IM, putting him in a position to be a top contributor right from the start.

Suwanda is currently the only confirmed commitment for the Blue Streaks’ class of 2030 on the men’s side, while Gianna Minotas and Claire Murray will join the women’s team next fall.
