Rylee Erisman on Exploring Events: “I’ve… grown to really love the 5Free”

2026 PRO SWIM SERIES – AUSTIN

16-year-old Rylee Erisman has finished 3rd in the 200 free (1:57.19) and 400 free (4:11.02) in Austin and will finish her day with the 100 free final, where she’s the top seed. Erisman spoke with SwimSwam and reflected on her 2025, emphasizing that it was a big learning year for her and she made a lot of growth as an athlete. She also spoke about her excitement for 2026, where she will get to graduate high school, compete in her first senior-level international competition (Pan Pacific Championships), and start college at Cal Berkeley.

An interesting and mature oulook. I usually hear this sentiment more from cougars and guys having midlife crises.

I wonder if in college she becomes more of a 100/200/500 swimmer instead of a 50/100/200 swimmer
