This week on Dancing With the Stars, Ryan Lochte and his partner, Cheryl Burke, heated up the dance floor for Latin Night. The pair danced the Salsa for their Monday night performance to “La Negra Tiene Tumbao” by Celia Cruz.

This weeks upbeat and fun routine was a big change from Lochte and Burke’s contemporary dance from week 5. Lochte told cameras, “I want to dedicate this routine to my mom, this is just a little, little small token to say ‘Thank you mom. Thanks for being you.’ ”

After Lochte performed his emotional routine, he ran over to his mother (who sat next to his fiancée Kayla Rae Reid) and gave her a hug and kiss. When speaking about the past year and Rio, Lochte told his pro partner Cheryl Burke during rehearsals, “Everything that has happened, my mom’s stuck right there by my side.”

Lochte and Burke’s Salsa received a score of 30/40 and earned them a spot in next week’s show. As Lochte continues to improve with each week, it will be interesting to see what he will pull off next Monday.

Unless he is really lucky this will probably be his last dance, unless his dancing improves dramatically.

He’s a lot farther than I thought he would make it. Good for him.

He’s nowhere near the best but to be fair, he has improved significantly over the past few weeks.

Honestly he really hasn’t improved much, his movements are very stiff and one dimensional. Cheryl is doing all the work. Maybe I’m just to critical having danced professionally for ten years.
