Ryan Held will be participating in the Mudpuppies Swim Across America Event in Memory of Dr. Brian Goldman.

For the 3rd year in a row, the Mudpuppies are going to honor Dr. Brian Goldman and continue the fight to help find a cure for cancer by hosting Olympic swimming and water polo clinics, and an indoor open water 1 mile swim.

Dr. Brian Goldman was a life-long swimmer with a passion for the sport. He held records for years at North Hills Club, and went on to swim for Duke during his undergraduate years. He also served as the team doctor for NC State.

Seven years ago, he combined that love of sport and love of coaching and started the Mudpuppies Swim Team. For him, more important than the wins were the life lessons he shared with his young swimmers.

Olympians and athletes in attendance will include Ryan Held, 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist and NC State swimming star, Elaine Breeden, 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist, Todd Dudley, 1987 Pam Am Gold Medalist and NC State swimming alumnus, Erika Braun, master’s world record holder and 2012 Olympic Trials qualifier at age 41, Alex Rousseau, 1992 + 1996 Olympian Water Polo player, and Tim Payne, 2016 Invictus Gold medalist.

During 1 mile indoor open water event, Tim Payne plans on swimming the entire mile despite the fact that he is a double leg amputee.

The Olympic Water Swim Clinic will be run by Ryan Held, Elaine Breeden, Todd Dudley, and Erika Braun.

The Olympic Water Polo Clinic will be run by Alex Rousseau.
