Rick DeMont Added to 2014 Pan Pacs Coaching Staff

New University of Arizona head coach Rick DeMont has added another new bullet-point to his resume on Sunday at the 2014 U.S. National Championships: he has been added to the 2014 Pan Pacs coaching staff.

The full staffs have not yet been announced, but the Arizona Swimming and Diving official Twitter account Tweeted the news.

DeMont took over as the interim head coach at Arizona during the 2013-2014 season, and in February officially took the full-time head coach title from Eric Hansen before NCAA’s. Though he’s relatively new to this role of head coach, he’s been a 25-year assistant at Arizona and is credited as one of the major reasons for that program’s successes.

For most of those 25 years, he worked under Frank Busch, who is now the USA Swimming National Team Director, and DeMont himself is a former World Record holder in the 400 and 1500 meter freestyles. His biggest international coaching experience has been as a part of the South African Olympic staff in 2000, 2004, and 2008.
