Donald Trump is getting involved in the Olympics.
The United States President established a task force for the 2028 LA Olympics on Tuesday, with the main priority of the group ensuring that the Games are “safe, seamless and historically successful.”
The 2028 Olympics will be the first the U.S. has hosted since the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, and it will be the first Summer Olympiad held on American soil since Atlanta played host in 1996.
“The L.A. Olympics is shaping up to be a wonderful moment for America. It’s going to be incredible. It’s so exciting,” Trump said Tuesday as he signed the executive order at the White House establishing the task force, according to NBC News.
The executive order calls for the task force to coordinate security and planning for the Games, streamline visa processing and credentialing for the athletes, coaches, media and other visitors coming to the U.S.
“This Order underscores President Trump’s commitment to showcasing American pride, hospitality, and economic opportunity through sports tourism,” the White House said in a statement.
While many populist governments around the world, especially in Europe, are pulling back on Olympic spending (and hosting altogether), Trump appears to be leaning in. Previous American presidents have served passive, ceremonial roles when the Olympics have been held on U.S. soil.
Trump, who named himself chair of the task force, believes the Olympics will be “a premier opportunity to showcase American exceptionalism,” according to the White House statement, which also said that he “is taking every opportunity to showcase American greatness on the world stage.”
“We’ll do anything necessary to keep the Olympics safe, including using our National Guard or military, OK?” he said. “I will use the National Guard or the military. This is going to be so safe. If we have to.”
In June, Trump sent the National Guard to LA in response to immigration protests.
In addition to Trump serving as chair, the task force will also include Vice President JD Vance as vice chair, while the likes of Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles will also be a part of it after they were present on Tuesday.
Paralympic swimmer Brad Snyder and Olympic champion gymnast Nastia Liukin were also in attendance.
LA 28 President Casey Wasserman thanked Trump for his commitment to planning for the Games that was awarded to LA during his first term, and presented him with a set of gold, silver and bronze medals from the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“You’ve been supportive and helpful every step of the way,” Wasserman said, according to the LA Times. “With the creation of this task force, we’ve unlocked the opportunity to level up our planning and deliver the largest, and yes, greatest Games for our nation, ever.”

Algebra is a building block for both logic and objectivity.
People lacking such skills often make blanket statements based on on emotion such as blithering hatred rather than rational thought.
I’ve found that this works on both sides of the isle.
What a joke!
Hope IOC pays close attention to the disaster that the World Cup will be here next summer. And then promptly announce that it’s moving to Canada for 2028. If they keep the games in LA, it will be the worst Olympics in history.
The good news is California has a wonderful climate.
Mediterranean climates are the best
Get ready to watch the result of the dismantling of U.S. Olympic Sports in 2028. I hope that I am wrong but between destroying the dreams of thousands of Olympic sports athletes this past year with roster cuts, future Olympic sport athletes opting to quit their sport for academics, and so many international athletes taking roster spots in college programs(greatly diminishing the depth).
President Donald J Trump is the ONLY person that can save USA Swimming.
With the exception of Covid Tokyo, 2028 LA will be the least attended Olympics by foreign tourists since World War 2.
Why would foreign nationals want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars only to have a chance to be randomly arrested and deported to El Salvador gulag, especially if you don’t look white.
You can’t be serious.
The World Travel and Tourism Council says America is on track to lose $12.5 billion in international visitor spending this year.
Oxford Economics projects the U.S. will be the only country to see that type of decline.

Correct!
That’s not the way that works.
Tourists come through a port of entry legally…..
I mean, US immigration already arrested and detained US nationals carrying US passport and foreigners landing in US airports holding their passport and legit US Visa just because they don’t look white enough.
Some American citizens carrying US passport arriving from overseas have been detained because they look brown.
Why would legit foreign tourists want to spend thousands of dollars for this sh1t h0l3?
Yeah, there have been cases where U.S. citizens and visa holders got detained or questioned more harshly because of racial profiling — and that’s wrong, no argument there. But writing off the entire country as a “sh1t h0l3” ignores the bigger picture. Millions of tourists come here every year, pass through immigration in minutes, and never face that treatment. And if we’re being honest, a lot of other countries are far worse when it comes to entry practices.
In some places, tourists can be detained for hours with no explanation, have their electronics searched without cause, be asked for bribes just to clear customs, or even be denied entry based on politics, religion, or where their passport stamps are from.… Read more »
