Pitt Athletics is proud to announce the unveiling of the biggest renovation in the history of Trees Pool as the Pitt swimming & diving program welcomes alumni and donors to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 7. The Homecoming weekend event will showcase a recently completed $3 million project that has significantly updated and improved Pitt’s long-time home for swimming & diving.

University of Pittsburgh Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, Athletic Director Scott Barnes and new Pitt swimming & diving head coach John Hargis will each attend the event, which will begin with the alumni swim meet at 2 p.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. with the presentation of the Trees Pool renovations.

First built in 1963, Trees Pool has maintained its status as one of the premier aquatic venues in the country. But thanks to the generous donations of numerous alumni and donors, these finished upgrades to the facility will enable Pitt to better recruit and develop talented student-athletes and potentially host future ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, with the ultimate goal being to help the Panthers regularly compete for more team and individual ACC and NCAA titles in swimming & diving.

Completed renovations to be revealed on Friday include the building’s new state-of-the-art 26 x 14.5 foot LED video board, the comprehensive refurbishment of the Pitt men’s and women’s locker rooms and the construction of the brand-new Pitt swimming & diving team room, which includes a nutrition center, a lounge for student-athletes to study and relax in and a legacy wall to honor the program’s tremendous tradition.

The schedule for Friday’s Trees Pool renovation unveiling is as follows:
1:30 p.m. – Arrival and Registration (Trees Pool)
2 p.m. – Alumni and Donors Swimming Meet & Gathering (Trees Pool)
4:30 p.m. – Trees Pool Renovations Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony (Trees Pool)

*Ceremony will include speeches from Chancellor Gallagher, AD Barnes, Coach Hargis
