UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State women’s swimming and diving concluded a string of three consecutive home meets at McCoy Natatorium Friday with a 183-106 victory against Villanova, winning 12 of the day’s 16 events.
“We’ll take it,” Penn State head coach Tim Murphy said. “Now it’s time to clean things up, get sharp, get rest, take care of ourselves and stay healthy. We’re looking forward to Big Tens.”
Top Swims:
Julia Meisner won both of her freestyle events. The freshman touched first in the 200 Free (1:51.48) and in the 500 (5:01.21), leading the Nittany Lions to sweep the latter as senior Abbie Amdor (5:04.33) and Courtney Marlin (5:08.43) followed her to second and third.
Junior Abby Henderson saw victory in the meet’s backstroke events with a 56.41 100 and a 2:03.57 200.
Junior Morgan Rinn also placed first twice this afternoon in the 1000 Free (10:15.15) and 200 Fly (2:01.92).
Penn State took the sprint freestyle races under the leadership of Cat Stanford in the 50 (23.45 50) and Catherine Meisner in the 100 (51.22).
Nittany Lions additionally won in the pool with senior Emma Harvey in the 100 Fly (56.54) and junior Ellie Brandbergh in the 200 IM (2:07.77).
Top Dives:
Graduate student Daphne Wils continues to lead her team on the boards, winning both the 1-Meter (316.35) and 3-Meter (314.55) and completing a regular season in which she never lost at home.
Notably, junior Mackenzie Clark earned a personal record in the 3-Meter (249.53).

Eduardo Cisternas led the 200 free at 1:40.09 with Jack Harvey and Calvin Wise following to help sweep the podium after the opening relay.
Freshman Andrew Christensen landed a first place finish in the 200 fly at 1:53.33, only less than a second ahead of his competitor this afternoon.
Mariano Lazzerini, Dan Räisänen, and Ryan McNutt followed suit in the 50 free for another all-podium finish for the Nittany Lions. Lazzerini claimed gold at 21.46 and Räisänen followed just behind for second.
The 100 free came with another podium sweep for the men’s squad with Victor Baganha, Lachlan Byrne, and Eduardo Cisternas’s success. Baganha finished at 44.37 for a first place finish.
An exciting performance in the 500 free as Jack Harvey sprinted home and landed a tie for first with Jack McIntyre of Villanova at 4:39.60.
Relays:
Cooper Morley, Mariano Lazzerini, Victor Baganha, and Tommy Hurley struck gold in the 200 medley relay at 1:28.45, which counted as an exhibition. Lachlan Byrne, Dan Räisänen, Sam Folger, and Ben Doyle followed at a close second at 1:31.78.
Top Dives:
Freshman Hayden Elliott and senior Kevin Sullivan took to the podium on the 3-meter dive, Elliott taking home the gold with a 325.05 and Sullivan returning with a 287.03.
On the 1-meter, Elliott notched 331.05 for a first place finish in the diving well.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Winnie Jalet picked up wins in the 100 and 200 Breast on Friday evening at the McCoy Natatorium as Villanova fell to Penn State, 183-106.
The freshman posted winning times of 1:04.42 in the 100 Breast and 2:18.83 in the 200 Breast to get her third sweep in the event this season. She also had a second-place relay performance with Villanova’s (2-5) B team in the 200 Free, swimming an opening leg time of 24.93 for a group that posted a 1:41.06 time.
Villanova had 14 top-three showings against Penn State (6-2) with Jalet logging the only two individual victories on the day. The 200 Medley Relay B team of Hannah Wasmuth, Maggie Kleinsmith, Katie White and Cara Stapleton posted a top-spot time of 1:51.22. In the 200 Free Relay, the A group of Stapleton, Lainey Quinones, Lexi Elkovitch and Perri Stahl were first in 1:37.60 with Jalet, Mary Kate Farrell, Molly Benson and White finishing second in 1:41.06.
Benson was third in the 1000 Free at 10:38.21 with Elkovitch touching second in the 200 Free with a 1:54.89 showing. Audrey Pastorek had a pair of top-three finishes, clocking in third in the 100 Back in 58.27 and touching second in the 200 Back with a time of 2:04.00. Claire Feick picked up a third place performance, scoring a 248.03 in the 1-meter dives.
White was second in the 200 Fly, touching in 2:03.54. Stahl touched in 24.27 to take third in the 50 Free. Kleinsmith joined Jalet in the top three of the 200 Breast, touching third in 2:25.52. The 200 IM brought a second-place finish for Kaitlin Gravell with a time of 2:09.34.
Villanova is back in the pool tomorrow at West Virginia. Action starts at noon from the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W. Va.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Charlie Hinckley jumped into the top three of Villanova’s 1000 Free performers list as the Wildcats fell to Penn State, 179.5-111.5, on Friday evening at the McCoy Natatorium.
The junior demolished his previous personal best of 9:35.43 in the event, posting a winning time of 9:19.33 that made him the third-fastest performer in Villanova (2-4) history. His time also marked the fourth-fastest time in team history. He dominated the race, distancing himself from the rest of the field by 18 seconds.
Villanova picked up 18 top-three finishing against Penn State (4-4) with four of those being wins.
The 200 Medley Relay A team of Gavin Jones, Mikey Thurk, Ryan Maher and Henry Gingrich won with a time of 1:35.71 while the B Team of Aubrey Bowles, Henry Halloran, Sam Randall and Alex Hamill were second in 1:37.99. Jake McIntyre tied for first in the 500 Free at 4:39.60. The final win of the day came in the 200 Free Relay with Thurk, Maher, Reid Hutcherson and Hamill turning in a 1:25.91 time. The B squad of Gingrich, Jones, Randall and Hinckley finished second in 1:26.86.
Jake McIntyre joined Hinckley in the top three of the 1000 Free, posting a 9:47.90 that was good enough for third. Hamill had a pair of top-three finishes in the Backstroke. He touched second in the 100 Back at 52.40 before going 1:53.13 in the 200 Back. Thurk clocked in at 59.41 in the 100 Breast that was good enough for third.
Nolan Danus fell into a tight race for first in the 200 Fly but finished just five-hundredths of a second out of the lead with a second-place time of 1:53.38. Kevin Geist was not far behind, touching third in 1:56.22. On the boards, Nicholas Jubilee had a 253.95 score in the 3-meter that was good enough for third. The ‘Cats had a 2-3 finish in the 1-meter with Jubilee scoring a 260.70 and Chris Jones posting a 239.85.
Both Wildcats in the 200 IM field logged top-three finishes. Danus touched second in 1:56.01 followed by Richard Nolan in third at 1:59.28. Nolan was also third in the 200 Breast (2:11.32).
