Penn State Behrend Men & Women Claim AMCC Swimming & Diving Titles

Women’s Recap

The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team claimed the team title at the Allegheny-Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet on Saturday at the Webster Aquatic Center. The Lions claim their 13th AMCC team title and second in the past three years.

On the final day of competition, the Lions got a first place finish from Cameryn Watters in the 200 back (2:06.63). Behrend SO Izzy Sheridan finished second overall, and first in the AMCC, in the 1650 free, finishing in 18:26.78.

Alfred State College junior Madison Snayczuk earned AMCC Women’s Swimmer of the Meet honors. Snayczuk took home the gold on Saturday in the 100 free, hitting the wall in 53.70. The Pioneers also had strong finishes on the day from Mikaela Snayczuk, who led the AMCC in the 200 breast (2:30.52), and Mallory O’Keefe who led the field in the 200 fly (2:11.48).

Behrend freshman diver Lauren Stephens was tabbed AMCC Women’s Diver of the Meet. Stephens led the AMCC in the diving events, finishing the day on Saturday with 328.60 in the women’s 3m diving.

Behrend head coach Jennifer Wallace was named the Women’s AMCC Coach of the Meet.

Men’s Recap

The Penn State Behrend men’s swimming and diving team claimed the AMCC title at the Allegheny-Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet on Saturday evening. The title marks the 15th championship overall for the Lions, and the first since 2020. The Hartwick College men finished first overall with 988 points, while the Behrend Lions were the top AMCC finisher with 977.50.

Penn State Behrend junior Tim Compton was named the AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Meet. Compton led the AMCC in the 200 fly with a 1:51.73 finish. He was also a part of the 400 free relay team, along with teammates Anthony TuminoDan Tanaskovic, and Jax Abele, who took first overall, touching the wall in 3:09.79. Tumino also took home the gold in the 200 back, coming in at 1:53.66, while Behrend’s Will Perham was the top overall finisher in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:03.98.

Rounding out the AMCC winners on the day was Penn State Altoona SO Adam Marawan who finished second overall, and first in the AMCC, with a 46.46 finish in the 100 free.

Alfred State College SO Conor Compton earned Allegheny Empire Diver of the Meet honors after earning the gold in both the 3m and 1m diving events. Compton earned a meet-high of 601.25 points on Wednesday on the 3m board before picking up 518.95 points on the 1m.
