Paris 2024 Announces Olympic Test Event Schedule

The Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has unveiled its testing program for next summer’s Olympic Games, with several preparatory events scheduled over the next 13 months.

The committee will run three different types of test events: full-fledged Olympic test events organized by Paris 2024, events organized independently that will allow Paris 2024 to test certain operations at their events, and “operational tests” where the committee will run “specific tests behind closed doors or with a small number of invited athletes.”

The test events are designed to “enable the organizers to identify and carry out any modifications that may be necessary to make sure the Games run as smoothly as possible.”

The swimming competition will not have an official test event, but instead will have an operational test scheduled for June 2024 at the Paris La Défense Arena (which will be known as Arena 92 during the Games), along with water polo.

The Paris La Défense Arena is a permanent facility that will install a temporary pool. Check out the renderings below:

Among the official test events on the books will be the Olympic triathlon, which will host the test event on August 17-20, 2023 alongside the World Triathlon Mixed Relay Series and the World Triathlon Para Cup, with the course based around the historic Pont Alexandre III bridge.

World Aquatics will host an Open Water World Cup event on August 5-6 in Paris which the organizing committee will use to test out certain aspects. Open water will be held at the same venue as the triathlon, Pont Alexandre III.

There will also be an event from April 29-May 8, 2024 for artistic swimming, diving and water polo at the Olympic Aquatics Centre that will allow Paris 2024 to test certain aspects for the Games.
