Ohio Swimming Inc and Lake Erie Swimming Inc Successfully Merge Into Single LSC

Oxford, OH — March 21, 2026 — Ohio Swimming Inc. (OSI) and Lake Erie Swimming (LESI) have successfully merged their independent Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) into a single, unified Ohio LSC, effective September  1, 2025. LSCs are administrative divisions of USA Swimming responsible for governance and development of the sport within designated geographic regions.

This merger—the first of its kind within USA Swimming—marks a historic and exciting milestone as we I.G.N.I.T.E. a united Ohio, passionately building the nation’s fastest swimmers.

The newly unified Ohio Swimming LSC recently hosted its inaugural Short Course Championship season, with Senior  Championships at The Ohio State University and Junior Championships at the SPIRE Institute. Athletes, coaches,  volunteers, and spectators overwhelmingly praised the enhanced, statewide championship format, which exceeded expectations and demonstrated the strength of a unified Ohio.

Ohio Swimming will continue this momentum by hosting “Beyond the Blocks 2026” at The Ohio State University on  April 25, 2026. This celebratory and forward-looking event will feature Olympic athletes, expert-led clinics,  educational breakout sessions, and more.

“Beyond the Blocks 2026” reflects the new Ohio LSC’s commitment to engaging athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers while advancing the sport through innovation and collaboration.

Strategic Priorities of the New Ohio Swimming LSC will include:

  • Athlete-Centered Excellence: Ensure every swimmer has access to the tools, coaching, and support needed to achieve their highest potential.
  • Expanded Pathways Across the Sport: Create inclusive opportunities from learn-to-swim programs through elite competition, welcoming individuals at every level of the athletic journey.
  • Membership Growth & Retention: Strengthen and support local clubs and committees with resources, initiatives,  and strategies to grow and retain participation statewide.
  • Community & Corporate Partnerships: Build meaningful partnerships that enhance resources, visibility, and long-term sustainability for the sport.
  • Intentional, Sustainable Growth: Deliver thoughtful, data-driven strategies that ensure long-term development and success across all levels of Ohio Swimming.
  • Elevating Ohio on the National Stage: Position Ohio Swimming for increased visibility and impact leading into the  2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, when the world will be watching.

I wonder if, one day, USA Swimming decides to do away with the LSC model altogether. But CEOs like to build and like to consolidate power so deciding splash fees should all flow through Colorado Springs seems inevitable.

Im not advocating for it. Its just something I can envision happening…
