Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Dynamo Swim Club’s Chloe Cappola has committed to join the Ohio State University women’s program beginning in the fall of 2026.
I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey at The Ohio State University! I want to thank my family and friends for their support of me throughout this journey. A huge thank you to the Dynamo coaching staff for challenging me, believing in me, and helping me take my swimming to the next level over the past year. I want to thank Coach Kylie for not only helping me become a good swimmer but become a good person with this sport. Thank you to the Ohio State coaching staff! I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join such an amazing program! Go Buckeyes!
Cappola hails from Atlanta, Ga., where she represents Mount Vernon Presbyterian School. As a junior, Cappola won a pair of Georgia 1-3A State Championship titles in February in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Cappola reached the wall first in the 100 fly in 55.84, her fastest time ever at the time. She also clocked 56.02 to win the 100 back at those championships.
One of Cappola’s best short-course showings came at the Dynamo Woodie B Malone Invitational in late November. There, she set multiple best times, including the 50 freestyle (23.46), 100 free (50.55), 200 free (1:51.22), 100 back (54.21), 200 back (1:58.59), 100 fly (54.57), and 100 breast (1:13.85).
Cappola also holds notable best times in the 200 IM (2:12.28) and the 500 free (5:17.51) from the 2025 Dynamo Eastern Classic in January.
Best Times SCY:
- 50 Free: 23.46
- 100 Free: 50.55
- 200 Free: 1:51.22
- 500 Free: 5:17.51
- 100 Back: 54.21
- 200 Back: 1:58.59
- 100 Fly: 54.57
- 200 IM: 2:12.28
The Ohio State women took home the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championship title last season.
Based on Cappola’s best times, she would have finished just one spot outside of the ‘C’ final in the 100 back, three spots out from the ‘C’ final in the 200 back, and 51st in the 200 free.
Cappola’s backstroke sits just a few spots outside of scoring at last year’s Big Ten Championships, and those were events in which the Buckeyes scored exceptionally well.
The Buckeye women scored 66 points in the 100 back; only runners-up Indiana had more (80). The 200 back was similar, with 73 points, 2nd most behind Indiana’s 89. Nyah Funderburke was Ohio State’s highest finisher on the 100 back last year, placing 3rd in 51.25. She has since graduated, but the Buckeyes do return the ‘B’ final winner from the Big Tens, Delia Lloyd, who is in her sophomore season and leads the Buckeyes this season in the 100 back and 200 back, with times of 52.91 and 1:54.41, respectively.
Cappola’s backstroke is a key strength, but her third event could take some work to find. The 200 free is an option, but there is some strength in the 100 fly and in the 100 free that could contend for that championship spot.
Cappola has set all of her major best times in the last two months and still has plenty of racing left this season before making her Buckeye debut. Cappola will still race, and look to defend her titles at the Georgia 1-3A State Championships early in 2026, and likely compete in multiple club championships and USA Swimming championship events.
Cappola joins Macie McCarter, Anna Shnowske, and Sarah Juiris in the Buckeyes’ class of 2030.
