Northeastern Secures Verbal Commitment from Megan Kelley

Temecula, California’s Megan Kelley has verbally committed to Northeastern University in Boston for the 2017-18 season. Kelley swims year-round for Temecula Swim Club and is a senior at Chaparral High School.

“I chose Northeastern because I love the positive and motivating atmosphere that encompasses the team and swim program. Along with the amazing academics and phenomenal location, the opportunities available for swim and school are endless. I felt like I really clicked with the team and the coaches and I could see myself there for this next chapter of my life.”

Kelley was a major contributor to Chaparral’s 12th-place team finish at the 2015 CIF-Southern Section Division II Championships in May. She won the consolation in the 200 free (1:52.10), finished 17th in the 100 fly (57.74), and led off the 200 free relay (25.16) and the 400 free relay (53.24). Kelley also participated in the CIF State Championships, at both its inaugural version in 2015 and again in 2016.

In club swimming Kelley had an exception long course season, updating her personal best times in all her main events. She competed at the Roseville Sectionals in July and made finals in the 200 free and 200 fly. She wrapped up her summer at Stanford Futures, swimming the 100/200 free and 100 fly.

Kelley’s top SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 1:52.10
  • 100 free – 52.82
  • 50 free – 24.91
  • 100 fly – 57.20
  • 50 fly – 27.02
