The Florida State swimming and diving teams are set to host Florida in the annual Sunshine State Showdown presented by Fresh from Florida on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Morcom Aquatics Center.

In addition, the meet is the annual ‘Paint it Pink’ contest. T-shits will be sold for a $10 donation and proceeds will benefit The Sharon Ewing Walker Breast Health Center at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

“(We’re) excited that Florida’s coming to us,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They’ve obviously had a huge success throughout the history of their program. Anytime Florida and Florida State meet in any sport it’s a big occasion.”

Florida comes to Tallahassee after both teams won the All-Florida Invitational (Sept. 23-25). This will be the first competition for the Seminoles after the meet against Duke and Minnesota was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew.

The FSU men own 24 wins in the all-time series against Florida, while the women have three.  The women recently defeated the Gators in 2012 in Tallahassee, 157-143, while the men pulled off the upset in 2010, 184-116.

Thursday’s contest will follow a 16-event format, including the 100 and 200 of each stroke in addition to the 200 medley relay, 1000 free, 500 free, 50 free, 200 IM and 400 free relay.  1-meter and 3-meter diving will run simultaneously to swimming.

In addition, the teams will welcome alumni back to the pool to kick off homecoming weekend. The meet is also serving as staff appreciation.

Live timing will be available through the sports timing website in addition to the meet mobile app.
