The Toledo swimming & diving program will be competing in two separate events for the first time this season, when the divers head to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Buffalo Diving Invitational Friday through Sunday, and the swim team will host senior night this Saturday at a dual meet against Akron.

Senior night will honor the team’s nine senior student-athletes, Jessica AveryAllie BrinkhoffAllison DickeDanielle ForbesEmily FrederickMadeline GrubbeCiana HeastonBrittany Puthoff, and Katrin Streicher, for their contributions to the program.

The Rockets return to the pool after dropping a tri-meet to nationally ranked Ohio State and Kentucky last weekend. Toledo was led by a core of young swimmers and divers on the weekend, and head coach Jonas Persson and diving coach Gabriella Agostino are excited to return to the pool and honor their nine senior student-athletes.

“We are all very excited about the meet on Saturday. Not only are we swimming a really good team, but most importantly we are honoring our seniors for their last home dual meet of their collegiate career at Toledo. It’s going to be special!” said Persson. “The format of the meet is somewhat untraditional and with the heightened emotions of it being senior day, I think we will have a great meet. Akron is hard to beat, but if we are ready to go, we can put up a good fight. Lastly, I’m excited to see what the seniors can do , and I’m very proud of them.”

“We are looking forward to competing in our first diving invitational of the season,” said Agostino. “We have been training really hard over break and I am excited to see them compete. This meet will show us what we have improved on through the season and what we still need to work on before conference.”

The Buffalo Diving Invitational will begin Friday, Jan. 12, and run until Sunday, Jan. 14. Senior night at the Student Recreation Center will take place this Saturday. The meet is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with senior night festivities slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
