National Level Swimmer and FINA Bureau Member Dies at 46

FINA learnt with great sadness about the sudden loss of Lino Cândido Lourenço, FINA Bureau Member since 2013. Mr. Lourenço was 46 years old and died on April 25, 2014 in Luanda (ANG).

A national-level swimmer, he was from 1993 to 2012 Secretary General of the Angolan Swimming Federation. Member (1991-2004) and then Vice President (from 2004) of the Confédération Africaine de Natation (CANA), Mr. Lourenço had a swimming coaching and refereeing expertise, officiating at several FINA World Championships.

Also active in the areas of Management and Marketing, he was the first ever representative of Angola to be member of the FINA Bureau.

In this moment of grief, FINA addresses his heartfelt condolences to Mr. Lourenço’s family and friends, and to the entire aquatic community in Angola.
