  • Live results
  • Hosted by University of Missouri
  • Thursday, November 17th to Saturday, November 19th
  • 25 yards
  • Invite format

For the second day in a row, the Mizzou Invite was highlighted by a Missouri swimmer throwing down a NCAA-leading time.  Last night, it was Andrew Sansoucie‘s 44.86 in the 100 fly.  Tonight, defending NCAA champion Fabian Schwingenschloegl handily won the 100 breast in 51.54, just a few tenths off his time from last March’s NCAA finals.

However, Schwingenschloegl had gone even faster in this morning’s prelims, clocking a 51.07 that was a lifetime best and moved him ahead of Nic Fink for the 5th-fastest ever in this event.

Interestingly enough, the 2nd place finisher in this event tonight was fellow Missouri senior Michael Chadwick.  He’s best known for his sprint freestyle, but went 52.67 tonight after going 1:430.0 in the 200 IM yesterday.  With Chadwick and Caeleb Dressel, two of the NCAA’s leading sprint freestylers are showing themselves to be excellent all-around swimmers in a way we don’t see too often.

In other events:

  • Both the Mizzou women and men won their respective 200 medley relay races.  The women took it in 1:37.06, and the men in 1:24.42, that also appears to be a NCAA-leading time.
  • Missouri swimmers also touched first in both of the 400 IM races. Sharli Brady picked up her second win of the meet in 4:05.63, and Nick Alexander paced the men in 3:46.20.
  • In the 200 free, Kira Zubar continued Missouri’s winning ways, pacing the field in 1:46.80, and Mikel Schreuders followed suit in 1:34.67.
  • Katharine Ross (Missouri) won the 100 breast in 59.54.  Ross placed 4th in this event at last season’s NCAA championship meet.
  • Nadine Laemmler just touched out teammate Haley Hynes in the 100 back, 52.03 to 52.19.
  • Missouri’s Daniel Hein was just a bit off his time from this morning, but still won the 100 back with a time of 47.72.
  • The Illinois women finally interrupted Missouri’s winning streak in the last event of the night, taking the 800 free relay 7:18.82 to 7:20.85.
  • Drury took the men’s 800 free relay in 6:36.54.
