Michigan HS Coach Accused of Sexting Sentenced to 3 Years Probation

Tyler Card has been found guilty of sexting a former swimmer of his and has been sentenced to 3 years probation.

Judge David Groner sentenced Card to the 3 year probation in addition to a sex offender treatment. This means he cannot work or live within 1,000 feet of a school.

The 26-year old was the head coach of the girls swim team at Allen Park High School before the incident. He turned himself in to police and faced two felony charges: accosting a child for immoral purposes and using the internet to commit a crime, according to The Detroit News.

WDIV Detroit reports that the Allen Park school board found sexual texts between Card and a student. The sexual text messages were sent to a 15-year-old member of the girls swim team between February and March of 2015.

At first Card was placed on administrative leave, but was fired after the investigation.

Card had been an assistant coach in the district previously, but was promoted to the head coaching position last year.

The messages were exchanged via the Snapchat app, an application that deletes pictures and messages immediately after being delivered to the receiver. It is reported that Card asked for nude pictures from the girl while using the app.
