“Chapel Hill stood out to me because of their outstanding academics and amazing swim team,” Lechner said. “The team atmosphere and coaching staff is phenomenal, and I cannot wait to be a part of the team next year.”

Lecher is a stalwart in-state talent for the Tar Heels, a versatile swimmer with a lot of potential for ACC points in the future. Lechner’s an IMer going 1:53 in the 200 and sub 4 minutes in the 400.  Like many IMers Lechner has a very solid breaststroke. He’s been 2:o5 in the 200 yard breast and a 2:26 in the 200 meters breast, and he also has a strong 200 yard butterfly, 1:54, and a 2:09.o2 in the 200 meters.

Lechner’s the most recent verbal commit for UNC after Henry Campbell, a 2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier, from Manassas, Virginia, confirmed he was heading to Chapel Hill October 24th.
