Louisiana D2 State Champ Madelyn Carson Commits to Oklahoma Baptist

Madelyn Carson, from Ruston, Louisiana has verbally committed to swim for Oklahoma Baptist University beginning in the fall of 2017. The Bison are transitioning from into the NCAA Division II from the NAIA, where the women had won three consecutive national titles and the men, four.

Carson is a senior at Ruston High School. She is the Louisiana Division 2 state champion in the 200 IM (2:14.65) and the runner-up in the 100 back (59.30). She also led off Ruston’s medley relay (28.28) and the 400 free relay (56.63). Carson swims year-round with Bulldog Aquatics. Her best events are 100/200 backstroke and 200/400 IM.

At the 2016 Louisiana Long Course State Championships last July, Carson won the 200m back, was runner-up in the 800m free and 400m IM, and was fifth in the 100 back and 200m IM. She also placed 11th in the 200m free and 18th in the 100m fly. Her top SCY times are:

  • 50 back – 28.30
  • 100 back – 58.73
  • 200 back – 2:07.18
  • 200 IM – 2:13.78
  • 400 IM – 4:42.86
  • 100 fly – 59.65
  • 100 free – 56.63
  • 200 free – 2:01.22
