Nationals Update: Lochte Scratches 400 Free, to Swim 400 IM

To answer our first question from Irvine, at the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships, Ryan Lochte has officially scratched the 400m free, meaning that he will be swimming the IM events.

We first reported in our Day 1 preview that we heard from a very (un)reliable source that Lochte had been training breaststroke, and now we know for sure. It is yet to be seen how a series of injuries (to his groin and knee) will affect his training, or how they will hold up when he actually hits the water to race, but all of those questions and more will be answered by the end of the day.
