The Melbourne Sports Centres Outdoor Pool is set to host a long course qualifying meet this weekend, spanning Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 23rd.
Among the entrants is 22-year-old Tara Kinder, the versatile Melbourne Vicentre athlete who stepped away from swimming in early 2022.
After 14 months out of the pool, Kinder made her return in February of this year and has been steadily making her way back to form.
At the 2025 World Championships, the Craig Jackson-trained swimmer captured the top seed in the women’s 200m IM (2:09.45) before settling for 12th place in a semi-final outing of 2:11.24.
This weekend’s competition will see Kinder take on the 200m breaststroke and 200m freestyle events.
Another notable entrant is 17-year-old Henry Allan of Bendigo East.
Allan did major damage on the domestic age records in April of this year, including ripping a monster lifetime best of 53.73 in the 100m backstroke.
He represented Australia at this year’s World Junior Championships, where his highest individual finishes came in the 50m back and 100m back. He placed 4th in both, clocking 25.14 and 54.25, respectively.
