Kelly Kremer Named USA Team Coach to the 2013 World University Games

“This will be my second opportunity to be on the United States National team staff and to me, there’s not a bigger honor than to get a call from USA Swimming and have an opportunity to be on a staff like that,” Kremer said about the opportunity. “I’m really honored and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Kremer will be helping coach two of his current swimmers, juniors Kyler Van Swol and Derek Toomey, who have been selected to compete on the USA team. Former Gopher Ashley Steenvoorden will also be swimming for Team USA at the World Games.

“Obviously the reason coaches get these opportunities is because swimmers go really fast, or in Wenbo’s [Chen] case, because his divers dive so darn well,” Kremer said. “I feel very thankful that they perform the way they do. To share that experience with them is as good as it gets.”

The Games will take place from July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia. For more information, visit http://kazan2013.ru/en/about_universiade
