Kayla Han Wins Two Events At CIF Division 4 Southern Sectional Championships

CIF Southern Section Division 4 Championships

The CIF South Section Division 4 Championship meet wrapped up on Thursday, and La Mirada senior Kayla Han won two individual events.

Han swam the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle, setting the top times in both. In the 200 IM, she swam 1:58.81, touching 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. She was about three seconds off her lifetime best of 1:55.74 from November of 2025.

In the 500 freestyle, she swam 4:46.21, forty seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. This swim was about 10 seconds off the 4:36.88 mark she set in December of 2024 at the Winter Juniors Championships.

The girls’ team title went to Alta Loma High School with 257 points, 100 more points than California High School’s 150.

Alta Loma won both freestyle relays at the meet. They swam the top time in the 200 freestyle relay of 1:44.50 with their team of Angelina Cinquemani (25.95), Skylar Eddy (27.32), Camlynn Johnson (26.59), and Carly Berzins (24.64).

In the 400 freestyle relay, Cinquemani (57.29), Mollie Kochel (58.28), Johnson (59.85), and Berzins (55.20) swam 3:50.62 to touch a little more than four seconds ahead of California High School’s 3:55.00.

Alta Loma also had senior Mollie Kochel win the girls’ 100 backstroke with her time of 1:00.95.

There was one other dual-event winner at the meet. Bishop Diego junior Tierney Clark swam 1:56.81 in the 200 free and 53.06 in the 100 free to earn the individual wins in both.

Boys Meet Recap

The boys meet went to Aquinas High School with 162 points, about 50 points more than Hemet High School’s 117.

Aquinas only won one event, the boys’ 200 freestyle relay, which they swam in 1:30.40, stopping the clock three seconds ahead of La Habra’s 2nd place time of 1:33.68. Their team consisted of Xavier Hatcher-Sifford (21.43), Dallas Acosta Jr (23.46), Landon De La Torre (22.85), and Owen Bonadinman (22.66).

There were two dual-event winners. The first was junior Emory Vorndam from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School, who won both the 200 free (1:40.76) and the 100 free (46.22).

Mayfair senior Josh Price also picked up two event wins, swimming 20.95 in the 50 free and 49.11 in the 100 fly.
