Junior Nationals Qualifer Jacqueline Young Hands Commitment to Villanova

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jacqueline Young of Terrace Park, Ohio, has announced her verbal commitment to swim at Villanova as a member of the class of 2022.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Villanova! I am so grateful for all the family, friends, and coaches who have helped me along the way! This is a dream come true and I’m so honored to be a part of the Villanova family! Go Wildcats!💙🐾😼”

Young attends Mariemont High School and competes for the Cincinnati Aquatic Club, where she is a Winter Junior Nationals qualifier in the 200 breaststroke. Representing Mariemont at the 2021 OHSAA Division II State Championships,  Young placed 8th overall in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.77) and 9th in the 200 IM (2:11.47). Last month, Young competed at the Ohio Summer Championships, where she posted personal best times in the 100 breast, 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 fly, and 200 breast.

Best Times SCY

  • 200 breast – 2:17.88
  • 100 breast – 1:04.62
  • 200 IM – 2:09.70

With her best times, Young should have an immediate impact on Villanova’s breaststroke group. Last season, her best time in the 200 breaststroke would have ranked 2nd on Villanova’s roster, only behind Big East runner-up Maggie Kleinsmith. In addition, Young’s 100 breaststroke time would have ranked 4th on the roster, not far off of the top time.

At the 2021 Big East Championships, Young’s best time in the 200 breaststroke would have placed 4th overall, with two of the top three finishers expected to graduate prior to her arrival at Villanova. Young’s best time in the 100 breaststroke would have also placed her in the A-final in 7th overall. Currently, Kleinsmith is Villanova’s breaststroke leg on their medley relay with her best time of 1:02.04. The pair will only overlap one year on campus, as Kleinsmith is currently a junior.

At those Championships, the Villanova women narrowly defeated UCONN to win the Big East title. Villanova’s swimmers won 11 total events to lead the entire meet.

With her commitment, Young joins Arbella Lee and Mary Kate Farrell in Villanova’s class of 2026.
