19-year-old European Junior Championships multi-medalist Estella Tonrath proved too quick to catch in the women’s 200m back, posting a gold medal-worthy result of 2:09.17.

Although her lifetime best remains at the 2:08.03 established at last year’s edition of this competition, the teen put up enough speed to hold off Africa Zamorano and Sara Costa, who captured the minor medals. The former hit 2:11.59 for silver, while the latter bagged the bronze in 2:12.41.
