Gilmour’s Kiley Eble Verbally Commits to FGCU

Ohio’s butterfly and backstroke phenom Kiley Eble will be taking her talents to Florida Gulf Coast University for the 2015-2016 collegiate season. Eble made her commitment to the Eagles on Sunday, and will be adding a significant sprint fly and back force to the FGCU roster.

“I chose FGCU for the great coaches, the fun team and the beautiful location. I think that Neal’s coaching style will take my swimming to the next level and get me to where I want to be,” Eble said. “I’m extremely excited to call Florida Gulf Coast my home. I can’t wait to train and study with such a great group of girls and become a part of the FGCU family. Wings up!”

Coached by Tim Hable at the Great Lakes Salifish Swimming Club in Ohio, Eble was the Division II State Champion in the 100 Fly (55.17) and was also the runner up in the 100 Back, swimming a 55.16. Her swims helped push Gilmour Academy to a 2nd place finish at the meet.

Eble will be able to make some serious impact as early as her freshman year at an already strengthening FCGU program. The Eagles claimed second at the 2014 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships. Eble’s times in the 100 Fly and 100 Back at her high school championship meet would have put her 6th and 4th respectively, and those efforts could give FCGU that extra push for the overall championship spot during the next few years. Her fastest 100 Back time is already just off the Division 1 NCAA B cut for the event (55.09), which means the Eagles could have another NCAA invitee come March.
