Fresno, Calif. – Following a challenging week that saw them have to overcome a cancelation to their dual meet season, the Aggies fell to Fresno State 175-125 on Saturday. It was the first defeat UC Davis has ever suffered to the Bulldogs.

The Aggies started off the meet on a high note, taking first and third in the 200 Medley Relay. Though Fresno State made its mark in the individual events, the Aggies didn’t go quietly. Sam Rhodes, Dani Fasan, and Amelia Cho combined to go 1-2-3 in the 100 Breast and later Rhodes and Rachel Pride went 1-2 in the 200 Breast.

Between her individual and relay finishes, Fasan was responsible for 19 points and Rhodes was a triple event winner, also taking the 200 IM.

But though the Aggies consistently placed inside the top four, the Bulldogs won 11 individual events to build the final margin.

UC Davis swimmers and divers were competing for the first time since the week of Nov. 18 and would have done so on Friday against UCSB but the Gauchos were forced to cancel that MPSF dual due to COVID-19 issues.

The Aggies are slated to host Pacific for Senior Day on Jan. 29 Schaal Aquatic Center before heading to the MPSF Championships in Los Angeles Feb. 16-19.
