Fordham Women, Towson Men Trade Wins in Fordam Season Opener

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 3, 2025) – The Fordham swimming & program, which began in 1925, started its 100th season of competition on Friday afternoon, hosting the Towson Tigers at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.  The Fordham women posted a 159-141 team win, while the men fell by a 185-115 score, but saw two school records fall.

WOMEN’S MEET

  • The Rams won 12 events on their way to a 159-141 win over Towson.
  • Karina Kanary led the way with three event wins in her Fordham debut, taking first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.40), 200 breaststroke (2:21.55), and the 200 individual medley (2:08.56).She was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay with Saskia AikmanElla Montgomery, and Lexi Lundell (1:46.10).
  • Campbell Stever took first in both distance freestyle events, posting times of 10:28.58 in the 1000 freestyle and 5:08.76 in the 500 freestyle.
  • Hayley Clark was also a multiple event winner, placing first in the 200 freestyle (1:53.36) and the 200 butterfly (2:05.62).
  • Katie Laverty swept the diving events with Zone diving qualifying marks of 307.95 on the one-meter board and a school record mark of 317.63 on the three-meter board.
  • Aikman and Montgomery each added an individual event win to their relay victory.  Aikman won the 50 freestyle in 24.09 seconds, while Montgomery was first in the 100 butterfly in 56.53 seconds.

MEN’S MEET

  • Fordham fell by a 185-115 score to Towson.
  • The Rams recorded seven event wins on the afternoon.
  • David Vargas had a huge Fordham debut, winning both diving events with school records and Zone qualifying scores of 382.43 points on the one-meter board and 412.58 on the three-meter board.
  • Quinn MacPhail was also a dual event winner, taking the top spot in the 1000 freestyle (9:28.73) and the 500 freestyle (4:35.77).
  • Alex Ayers won the 200 freestyle outright in 1:42.43, while tying for first in the 200 individual medley at 1:54.42.
  • Max Maycher had the remaining event win for the Rams in the 100 butterfly in 50.71 seconds.

WHAT’S NEXT

  • The Rams are next in action on Saturday, October 11th, with a tri-meet with St. Bonaventure and Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J.

BRONX, N.Y. – The Towson University men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed in their first road dual meet of the season against Fordham. The men’s team earned a 185-115 victory while the women were defeated by a score of 159-141.

How it Happened (Women):

  • Addie Scott won the 100 back with a time of 57.04.
  • Scott made it two wins in two events wining the 100 free with a time of 51.92.
  • Madison Neal completed Towson’s sweep of the women’s backstroke with a winning time of 2:05.04 in the 200 back.
  • Ryland Zuniga, Scott, Emelia Erikson and Summer Bontrager capped off the meet with a win in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:29.95.
  • Shannon Parrau placed second on both boards with scores of 300.00 in the 1 meter dive and 308.40 in the 3 meter dive.

How it Happened (Men):

  • Sean ColsonJed GarnerBenjamin Eischeid, and Daniel McLaughlin started the meet off strong with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.31.
  • Colson then took victory in the 100 back with a time of 50.91.
  • Garner won his second 100 breast event in two meets with a time of 56.37.
  • Anthony Mortellite swam a 1:56.13 to finish first in the 200 fly.
  • Isak Brkanovic claimed the top spot in the 50 free with a time of 21.34.
  • Daniel McLaughlin won the 100 free with a time of 47.05.
  • Colson earned his third win of the evening with a 1:50.05 time in the 200 back.
  • Harry Herrera got the victory in the 200 breast with a time of 2:06.14.
  • Eischeid, Mortellite, Stephen McDonald, and McLaughlin completed the relay sweep with a winning time of 3:07.11 in the 400 free relay.

Up Next:
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow when they travel for a dual meet against Seton Hall. Diving begins at 10 a.m. followed by swimming at noon.
