Dual-Sport Athlete Erin Palmer Commits to Utah

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Erin Palmer, a swimmer and track athlete at Century High School, has verbally committed to swim and run track at the University of Utah for the fall of 2022.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Utah where I will further my academic and athletic career in both swimming and track. While the location is unbeatable, so is the enthusiasm of the coaching staff and team. Thank you to family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all of your love and support. #GoUtes”

Palmer is a senior at Century High School, and swimming will be her primary sport at Utah, though she will also be running track. She has Futures, Juniors, and Open times. This year, she won All-American honors for the 100 breaststroke, and participated in two All-America relays. She swims club for Aquastorm, and her best short course times are:

  • 50 freestyle: 23.26
  • 100 freestyle: 50.72
  • 100 breaststroke: 1:02.63
  • 100 butterfly: 57.21
  • 200 breaststroke: 2:18.06
  • 200 individual medley: 2:05.89

At the 2021 Futures Championship, Palmer placed ninth in the 100 meter breaststroke and 17th in the 50 meter freestyle. At the 2020 North Dakota High School Activities Association state meet, Palmer won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

The University of Utah is a member of the Pac-12 Conference. At the 2021 Pac-12 women’s swimming and diving championships, the University of Utah placed fifth out of seven teams. At that meet and with her best times, Palmer would have made the top 24 in the 50 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, and the 200 individual medley.

According to Utah’s records, Palmer would have the tenth-best 100 breaststroke time on the team of all time. She would also have the tenth-best 200 breaststroke.

Her accomplishments also extend onto the track. Palmer has won state titles in the 400, 800 and the 4×4 and 4×8 relays. She also has her school’s record in the 800, and the state record in the 4×400.

Palmer will join swimmer Katelyn Buono in the class of 2026.

Great opportunity – so many coaches include running in their conditioning, that it only makes sense to look at dual sport athletes here! Congratulations!
