Delaware HS Swim Coach Arrested On Sexual Solicitation of Minor Charges

A Delaware high school and summer league swim coach, who was also a high school athletic director, was arrested last week after allegedly offering a sexual act to a 16-year-old boy, according to DelawareOnline.com.

The Delaware News Journal reports that 34-year-old Brian Budd was arrested early in the morning on Wednesday, July 6. Budd allegedly contacted a 16-year-old who is described as an ‘acquaintance’ through a text message, telling the boy Budd wanted to introduce him to a 20-year-old woman.

Budd then set up a meeting between the two, state police say. The Delaware News Journal goes on to report that Budd met the boy at the site while sending a discreet text message in which he pretended to be the 20-year-old woman and asked the boy to let Budd perform a sexual act on him.

The boy called police, who arrived and arrested Budd on site. He has been charged with sexual solicitation of a child under 18 to engage in a prohibited sexual act.

Budd was the athletic director for the Red Clay Consolidated School District, and was also a co-head swimming coach for a district high school. Documents from a local summer swimming league also list Budd as a coach at a neighborhood pool called Arundel.

The Delaware News Journal reports that Budd has been placed on administrative leave
