Meng Yeo of Texas Ford Aquatics has verbally committed to Cleveland State University as a part of the Viking’s men’s 2026 recruiting class.

Yeo competed at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Justin, where he notched four lifetime long course bests. He clocked his best times in both sprint backstroke and butterfly; 27.78 in the 50 back, 59.15 in the 100 back, 27.55 in the 50 fly, and 1:00.53 in the 100 fly.
One of Yeo’s best short course showings was at the Speedo Sectionals in Justin this past March. There, he marks five best times. Clocking best times in the 50 back (23.86), 50 fly (23.57), 100 fly (50.81), 100 back (49.22), and 200 back (1:47.81).
Yeo also holds best times in the 200 fly of 1:54.22 from the 2023 Speedo Sectionals in College Station, and the 200 free from the OK KMS Pro-Am Classic in December in the 200 free of 1:45.55.

The Cleveland State men finished 3rd at the 2025 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships a season ago.
Based on Yeo’s current best times, he would have qualified for the ‘A’ final in the 100 back and 200 back, and would have finished 24th in the 100 fly.
Yeo is an immediate backstroke threat in the Horizon League. Cleveland State finished third with plenty of pressure from the 4th and 5th place teams of Milwaukee and Youngstown State, with 3rd through 5th sitting just 81 points apart, last season, so any extra points the Vikings can get will be crucial.
Four of the top five from the 100 back final will have graduated by the time Yeo makes his debut, giving him a golden opportunity to swoop in and immediately contend for a conference title.
Yeo is the first publicized men’s recruit for Cleveland State at the time of publication.
