On the 5th day of action at the New South Wales Senior State Age Championships, 16-year-old Christopher Montana took the win in the boys’ 15 & over 50 breaststroke Super Final in 28.38, becoming the fastest Australian 16-year-old in the history of the long course 50 breast, lowering Haig Buckingham‘s 2021 top time of 28.79.

Diesel Williams also climbed onto the top five list in the event with his prelims swim of 28.91, later going on to touch 4th in 29.00. The runner-up in that final, Jack Mercer, 17, tied the 5th fastest time ever for 17-year-olds in 28.63.
Dylan Xie, 13, won his age in the 100 freestyle in 53.79, moving up to the 6th fastest in Australian history for 13-year olds, just six hundredths off of the top five.
Day 2 Highlights:
- The spring boys continued to excel on Day 2, this time in the age groups. 12-year-old Chris Song won for his age in 25.40, and 13-year-old Xie won for his age in 24.47. Xie’s swim ranks him 3rd in Australian history for 13-year-olds. The runner-up Haruto Imamura of Japan finished 2nd in 24.72 and Bradley Honor finished 3rd in 24.80.
- Montana won the boys’ 100 breaststroke in his age group in 1:02.63, missing his own personal best by .08 seconds. His 1:02.55 from Aussie Trials is the Age Record for 15-year-olds, and this 1:02.63 now ranks him 3rd in his new age category, with a full cycle to go before he ages up.
Day 3 Highlights:
- Imamura won the 100 fly for his age (13) in 58.30. Honor was 2nd in 58.61, just seven hundredths off of of the top five Australian 13-year-old performers list.
- Ollie MoClaire, two days after becoming the fastest Australian 18-year-old 50 freestyler (22.04), he led off the 200 free relay in 22.24, the fastest opening leg of the field.
Day 4 Highlights:
- Jess Cole earned herself a 9th place spot on the fastest Australian 18-year-old girls’ 100 butterflyers, winning the event in 58.79.
- Thomas Penny became the 3rd fastest Australian 13-year-old 200 IMer in history, winning his age group in 2:11.54, he now only trails Nicholas Groenewald (2:08.86) and Thomas Hauck (2:09.99) in the 13-year-old event ranks.
