The Chinese National Team started their training camp in Beijing this week as the country’s star swimmers gear up for the World Championships at the end of July.

Headlining the roster that will compete in Singapore are Pan Zhanle, Zhang Yufei, Qin Haiyang and Li Bingjie, all of whom are in Beijing for the training camp.

Some of the athletes shared a peek into their competitive mentality as they get ready to represent China on the global stage once more.

“I’ve been trying to improve my 200m freestyle over the past few years, but I just couldn’t,” Zhanle said. “It’s probably because I’m not good enough, or some other reasons. I think I’ll figure this out through one more competition on a big stage.”

Three-time Olympic medalist Wang Shun commented on his approach to winning.

“I don’t think winning is that important anymore, but I still want to win. I still don’t want to lose in the competitions. But now I can be at peace with any result,” Shun said.

Yufei, a ten-time Olympic medalist, also shared her outlook on bringing home medals.

“I feel so relaxed. There’s no specific goal for the medals. I just want to see if I can perform better,” said Yufei. “As long as I can achieve my personal target, I’ll be very satisfied, because that means I’m one step closer to returning to my peak form.”

China’s Government sponsered swimming program is going to destroy the field. USAswimming and the Grant House lawsuit has destroyed American swimming

Suspiciously long prep camp!

Not to draw conclusions, but why?

3 week camp is suspicious to you? The US camps for longer than that before the Olympics.

Pan actually mentioned his main problem is the third 50. If he goes out too hard then he find it hard to back it up on the last 50. If he does not go out too hard then he will be swimming in the wash of the leading swimmers and he would still fail.

Makes sense that he was able to throw down at Doha on that relay if he had clean water

You need to focus on your nation where a certain breastroker went from 2:12.7 last summer to 2:08.3 in less than 12 months. Them UKAD TUEs are next level aren’t they ?

Also, do you know why Ollie Morgan wasn’t able to swim at Settecolli ? Was it really for “personal reasons” ?

Hopefully your UKAD is cleaned properly…

Would love to see Pan‘s breakout in the 200Free. In top form he could split under 49 seconds and needs „just“ a 53,0 back half to smoke Paul😅
