Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club’s Charlie Cancelmo, 16, climbed himself up in the boys’ all-time 15-16 national age group rankings in the 200 butterfly at the 2026 Bellevue Club Premier Invitational in Federal Way, clocking a career best 1:42.00 to become the 4th fastest performer ever in the 15-16 age group.

This swim was a near quarter of a second improvement over his former best time of 1:42.23, which he set at the Speedo Winter Junior Championship West in December. His drop moved him ahead of Michael Phelps on the 15-16 NAG all-time performers list.

Top 15-16 NAG 200 Fly Performers:

  1. Thomas Heilman – 1:40.73 (2023)
  2. Luca Urlando – 1:40.91 (2018)
  3. Aiden Hayes – 1:41.34 (2019)
  4. Charlie Cancelmo – 1:42.00 (2026)
  5. Michael Phelps – 1:42.10 (2002)

Cancelmo’s 200 fly was one of five career best times he swam on the meet, including the 50 free (20.53), 100 free (44.08), 200 free (1:35.64), and 200 IM (1:46.56).

King Aquatics Club’s Grant Bellin also made a jump in the 15-16 NAG rankings, this time in the 200 backstroke, as the 15-year-old dropped over a second and a half from his previous best time of 1:44.55 from December’s Speedo Winter Junior Championships in 1:44.55 to win the event here in 1:42.72.

This swim moved Bellin up close to 50 spots on the all-time performers list to #14, which slots him in at a tie for that spot with Luke Vatev‘s equal time from last spring.

Bellin also jumped up to 60th all time in the 100 back 15-16 age group rankings with his more than half second personal best time of 47.74, marking his first career swim under 48, and finishing 2nd in the event.

The winner of that 100 back was Issaquah Swim Team’s Owen Stauffer, 16, who took over a third of a second off of his best to take the win in 47.33. He was even faster as the leadoff leg of the 400 medley relay, where he split 47.09, that time makes him the 22nd fastest 15-16 age group swimmer in the event’s history.

On the women’s side, Texas commit Mena Boardman of Commonwealth Swimming tied her career best in the 100 backstroke in 52.42, finishing just ahead of Sutton Forbis of Bellevue Club in 52.62.

Bellevue Club’s Clare Watson notched a pair of career best times, taking nearly two seconds off of her 200 free best in 1:47.61, and more than two seconds better than her former 200 fly best in 1:54.29.
