Canadian IM Talent Shu Tong Du Pledges to Yale as part of 2026 Recruiting Class

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Markham Aquatic Club’s Shu Tong Du has committed to furthering his academic and athletic career at Yale University, joining the Bulldogs’ women’s team as a member of the 2026 recruiting class.

Du hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario, which is 547 miles northwest of Yale’s Campus in New Haven, Conn. She competed at the Canadian Swimming Trials last summer, notching a pair of lifetime best long-course times, including the 400 IM, where she had her highest finish of the meet, touching 10th overall in 5:00.28. She also swam a best time in the 100 backstroke, touching 15th in prelims in 1:04.98.

One of the best meets of Du’s career came in December of 2024 at the Ontario Junior International Meet; there, she notched many of her best short-course bests, including the 200 IM (2:13.01), 400 IM (4:49.88), 100 back (1:01.88), 200 back (2:12.66), 100 free (56.28), and 100 fly (1:01.24).

Du has also raced stateside, competing in the 200 IM at the 2025 Pro Swim Series in Fort Lauderdale, where she finished 30th in the long-course 200 IM in 2:21.38.

Best Times Converted to SCY:

Event Time
Converted to SCY
200 IM (SCM) 2:13.01 1:59.82
400 IM (SCM) 4:49.88 4:21.15
100 Back (SCM) 1:01.88 55.74
200 Back (SCM) 2:12.66 1:59.51

Su joins a Yale women’s program that finished 5th at the 2026 Women’s Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships in February, 297 points behind 4th-place finishers Brown.

Based on the converted times from Du, she would have placed 4th in the 200 IM, 16th in the 400 IM, and 18th in the 200 back at those championships.

This addition is a big get for the Bulldog women, as it adds to the already solid foundation of points they scored in the 200 IM at the Ivies in February, securing 66 points in that event and trailing only champions Princeton (94) for the most in the event. Du also immediately fills the space left by Jessey Li‘s graduation, who was 6th in this event at Ivies (2:00.65). She also becomes a complementary IM piece alongside returning 200 IM scorers Lucy Walker (5th), Mabel Koff (12th), and Eunice Lee (23rd).

The 400 IM was also an area where the bulldogs flourished, scoring 64 points in the event; once again, only Princeton had more (115).

Du has not seen a best short-course time since late 2024, but the ability is clearly there, and if she can transition well to yards swimming, she could be a contender for Yale for all four of her years in the Ivy League.

Du joins Sophie Davies, Lauren Fishbein, Siri Vanderlinden, Ofek Adir, and Elise Gratton in the Bulldogs’ 2026 recruiting class.
