Cali Condors of the ISL Sign Danish Sprinter Signe Bro

The Cali Condors have announced their signing of a 2nd female sprinter in the last week as they look to soften the blow from the possible loss of Shayna Jack from their roster. The latest addition is Danish sprinter Signe Bro.  She joins a sprint group that includes the team’s latest signing, Kasia Wilk, as well as Americans Mallory ComerfordNatalie Hinds, and Olivia Smoliga

Bro is a 20-year old who represented Denmark at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships. 2 weeks ago, in Gwangju, she placed 33rd individually in the women’s 100 free in 55.65. She has a European Championship bronze medal from last summer when she split 54.59 on the finals leg of Denmark’s National Record setting women’s 400 free relay.

Much like Wilk, Bro’s primary contribution will be in the sprint freestyle races, though Bro has a possible contributing time in the 200 free as well (reminder: there is no 800 free relay in the ISL).

The Cali Condors are scheduled to kick off the season as part of “Group A” in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 4th-5th where they’ll race against the DC Trident, the Aqua Centurions, and Energy Standard.

Bro’s Best Times, SCM/LCM:

LCM SCM
50 free 25.36 24.93
100 free 54.01 53.55
200 free 1:58.64 1:56.04

Below is how the women’s freestyle depth chart stacks up for the Condors. While the meets are being raced in short course meters, we’ve ranked swimmers by long course meters – since many of the Condors swimmers don’t have a big taper times in short course meters. The SCM time is listed as well, for informational purposes.

(Shayna Jack has been excluded from these lists, for now).

They’ll decide halfway through the first meet (whenever that actually happens)
