Namie Edge of Beavercreek High School and Dayton Raiders in Beavercreek, Ohio has elected to remain in-state for her collegiate career and has verbally committee to Bowling Green State University’s class of 2024. Edge is a breaststroke/IM specialist. She competed at the Ohio High School Division 1 State Meet, finishing 17th in the 200 IM (2:09.75) and 20th in the 100 breast (1:07.50). In club swimming she extends her range to the 200 breast and 400 IM and swims free and fly, as well. During her junior year of high school she improved her best times in the 50/100/200/500 free, 50/200 back, 50/100/200 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM. She added a PB in the 200m breast this summer at Ohio LSC Long Course Senior Championships this summer, but the rest of her LCM times come from the 2018 Ohio State Championships.
Most of the Falcons’ top breaststrokers from 2018-19 have graduated but Edge will overlap one year with Kasie Perretta (1:05.66/2:24.34). The Mid-American Conference only scores an A final and a B final at the conference championship, and it took 1:03.49/2:17.60 to make it back in the 100/200 breast. The Falcons didn’t score in either event. In the IM events, it took 2:03.56/4:24.03. Then-seniors Emily Verbrugge and Mary Edwards were B-finalists in the 400. Verbrugge and current sophomore Daisy Platts scored in the B final of the 200 IM.
