Michael Trice

Michael Trice
Born March 24, 1993 in Georgia Michael Trice is a freestyle specialist at the University of Georgia. Standing 6’4″ Trice is currently in his junior year, and is majoring in Business. Trice is a native Georgian, and after graduating from Brookwood High School he decided to swim for Queens University in North Carolina. At the NCAA DII Championships Trice earned All-America honors both individually and as a member of relay teams, but left Queens after the season. He has a more unique background than the typical swimmer – he stopped swimming year-round his freshman year in high school after feeling burnt out of the sport. He opted out to only swim during the high school and summer seasons, and he decided to add weightlifting to his training regimen, which is when he figured out that he was most suited for the 50 freestyle. His high school coach, Greg Puckett, believes he’s even better on relays simply because of his competitive mentality. Trice is the Georgia school record holder in the 50 freestyle.

Queens University
As a freshman Trice qualified for the DII Championships finishing fourth in the 50 freestyle and was a member of four relays that finished in the top 10. Trice set a school record in the 50 freestyle and was a member of the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 400 medley relays that also set school records.

University of Georgia

After transferring to Georgia Trice and being named to the Second-Team All-SEC, Trice made the Georgia NCAA team as a relay swimmer. He competed on the 200 medley relay that finished sixth and the 400 freestyle relay that came in 14th helping the Bulldogs finish in the top five.

Trice is currently in his junior year as a Georgia Bulldog. At the 2015 SEC Championships he anchored the third-place 200 freestyle relay, finished fourth in the 50 freestyle, anchored the fourth-place 400 medley relay, finished 14th in the 100 freestyle, and anchored the fourth-place 400 freestyle relay.

National Competition
During his high school career at Brookwood Trice earned All-America, All-State and All-County accolades. In 2012 he was selected as Gwinnett County’s Swimmer of the Year and was honored as a Scholar Athlete during his sophomore, junior and senior years.
