Kaz Takabayashi

Kaz Takabayashi:

Kaz was born in Japan, but raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut.  He grew up swimming for SoNoCo Swim Club, where he was eventually elected the athlete representative for Connecticut.  Kaz attented Glastonbury high school, and during his senior year he was invited to train at the USA Swimming National Select Camp (courtesey of goduke.com).  Kaz was also a four- time Scholastic All-American as well as a Connecticut Scholar Athlete.  He has continued his swimming career training fly, contributing to the strong program Duke has developed.

Club:

Kaz swam for SoNoCo in Connecticut, where he swam under Bill Ball.  While swimming for SoNoCo swim team, Kaz was a 2012 US Olympic Trials qualifier, US Open qualifier and Summer Junior Nationals qualifier.

College:

2013-2014:

During his freshman year at Duke, Kaz was a part of the ACC Championship team where he competed in the 100 back, 100 fly and 200 fly.  He scored for the blue devils in both the 100 back and 100 fly, and was a part of the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay.

Personal:

Kaz is majoring in Computer Science at Duke, and hopes to work as an IT someday.
