Biedermann Begins Comeback This Weekend In Riesa

World record holder in the 200 and 400 freestyle, Paul Biedermann will begin his comeback after illness at this weekend’s Saxon Open Championships. Biedermann who missed the 2013 FINA World Championships has his eyes focused on the European Short Course Championships in Herning in early December. The first step though is not only qualifying for the German team, but he must qualify for the German Championships, which is the selection meet.

Although he should be able accomplish this with ease it is a necessary part of the process. To qualify for the event Biedermann must post a time that ranks within the top 100 German performances.

National Team Head Coach Henning Lambertz told Suddeutsche.de that after talking to coach Frank Embacher he is confident that Bierdmann is motivated and has shown that he has rounded himself back into form.

Bierdmann has been successful at the European Short Course Championships in the past winning both the 200 and 400 freestyle in Szczecin, Poland at the 2011 edition of the competition.
